What You Loved in One Person Can Exist in Others Too
After losing someone, it can feel as though you also lost your only chance to feel understood, loved, or accompanied. They mattered, and you do not need to make them less special to keep living. But what you discovered with them does not have to disappear forever. You will not find a copy, and you need not look for one. With time, another kind of affection could matter too, even if you cannot imagine it yet.
Losing someone does not erase what you shared or mean you will never receive affection again. Another relationship may matter in a different way, when you are ready.
The context
When you miss someone, you may miss their company and things you did together: talking at the end of the day, laughing or going for walks. Missing those routines can hurt as much as their absence.
You may not feel like meeting anyone now. That does not mean you will always feel that way. Give yourself time without promising or forcing yourself to fall in love again.
Taking a walk with a friend or feeling heard by someone else does not replace the person you lost. It is a different kind of company that can also help. It does not have to resemble the past to matter.
